Introduction

Hello, this is Zheng Peng. You can also call me James. I am a graduate student in Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Connecticut, as a research assistant in Underwater Sensor Network Lab which is led by Associate Professor Jun-Hong Cui. My research interests focus on underwater networks, operating system and embedded system.

Start playing with computers and using some obsolete programming language like LOGO or BASIC since the 1980s, I have plenty of experiences on system and implementation. My programming experience guarantees my good problem solving skills and troubleshooting ability. Being familiar with network protocols and programming in linux kernel, I have a general understanding of various networking protocols, and am able to implement these in hardware/software. I have programming experience of linux device drivers, 8051 microprocessors and H.323 applications.

I also have experience in real system building, such as embedded system and PCB design with Protel. And won a scholarship from Zhejiang University in 2000 and a prize in the National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest in 2001. These experience makes me comfortable working with microcontrollers, such as Atmel89C52, and various soldering surface mount components. With my web development experience, I am currently maintaining several websites (UWSN, UWSN_BIBTEX, WUWNET06, WUWNET07, WUWNET08) and am the system administrator of our lab. I also used to be a database developer in Roper Center at University of Connecticut.

I got two B.S degrees from Zhejiang University in 2002, and my Master's Degree in Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. My graduate advisor is Prof. Jiazhi Zeng, who does a lot of research on network architectures. I was a research assistant in his Next Generation Network Lab from 2002 till 2005. Four papers of mine (first author) have been published. And I am awarded the first-class scholarship from UESTC in 2005.

I like challenges and am pretty self-motivated. I believe that is a vital part of my life for self enrichment. Just as a saying goes, "no mountain’s too high for you to reach, no rain’s too wild for you to cross. 'Cause it’s you, with your faithful love and brave heart."

Please feel free to look around and get more information. You may also find my brief resume HERE.
